What music was that on the record player when C.J. reached her father's house in Dayton in "The Long Goodbye"?
According to a person posting as "Elwood P. Dowd" on the West Wing Television Without Pity Forum it was Miles Davis - Kind of Blue

And what was C.J.'s father playing on the piano in "The Long Goodbye"?
According to "Elwood P. Dowd" on the West Wing Television Without Pity Forum it was Aria from Bach's Goldberg Variations by Glenn Gould
The Aria is also available on this C.D. and you can hear a sample on the page you get to from here.

Jill Sobule's music on Inauguration, Part 2.
"alic" posted (on the Television Without Pity West Wing Forum) this link about this artist: Jill Sobule's where there used to be information on her appearance but all such information seems to be have been removed in a recent change to a fully Flash site that doesn't seem to offer much substance.

What was that powerful song they played in "Commencement"?

Song is "Angel" from the Mezzanine album by Massive Attack

The above link has a sample you can listen to in either:

Be sure to click on the link to the album and then go down to the samples near the bottom of the page. "Angel" is the first cut listed.

As usual, we wouldn't have been able to track down this song this quickly without information posted on the Television Without Pity West Wing Forum

Later, we heard from Warren Bakay who emailed us the following: "Tonights episode's (Commencement) song at the end is 'Angel' by Massive Attack, off of the Mezzanine album (1998) I can't get over how well chosen the songs on this show are. Absolute Brilliant."
