  1. Verizon had phone booths with its name on them years before they had them here.
    • Not that we noticed. But emails flooded in --- the first arriving about the time the show ended on the East Coast. The first person to get in touch with us was Jeff Giarrizzo (his email arrived at 8:19 pm Mountain time) saying "unfortunately for West Wing, there was no Verizon 3 years ago. This is a new company formed recently by a merger involving Bell Atlantic". Chelsean Ferrette's email arrived a little over a half hour later saying "Verizon only came to NYC in 2000. It should have said Bell Atlantic". One of the people who wrote was Jan Icyda of Verizon Advanced Video Networks. We have a full list of those who emailed us on this subject within 24 hours of when the show ended.

There is the possibility that the broadcast dates don't correspond to real dates in the West Wing World.

  2. The Chairman of the Joints Chiefs (in that world) believes (maybe incorrectly - the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs in all worlds can be wrong) that the eagle on the Presidential Seal changes the direction it faces depending upon whether it is wartime or not (facing the olive branch most of the time and facing the arrows during war time). In this world, the White House told Entertainment Weekly, Truman instigated a policy that the eagle would always face the olive branch and never the arrows.
