UPDATE: 'LAW & ORDER,''WEST WING'AND PSYCHICS CONJURE UP NBC'S BIGGEST WEDNESDAY RATING SINCE FEBRUARY Published: April 24, 2003

BURBANK, Calif. - April 24, 2003 - NBC has generated its highest Wednesday adult 18-49 average since February with "Psychic Secrets Revealed," "The West Wing" and "Law & Order." NBC won the night in overall total viewers and households, despite competition from "American Idol," "The Bachelor" and "Extreme Makeover."

According to updated "fast affiliate" in-home viewing statistics from Nielsen Media Research, the 8-9 p.m. ET telecast of "Psychic Secrets Revealed" (2.8 rating, 8 share among adults 18-49, 8.8 million viewers overall) opened the night with a solid third-place finish in 18-49 in a highly competitive time period. "Psychic Secrets Revealed" also finished #2 among men 18-49 and men 25-54.

From 9-10 p.m. ET, "The West Wing" (4.5/11 among adults 18-49, 13.7 million viewers overall) built by a hefty 61 percent on its 18-49 lead-in to score the show's highest adult 18-49 rating and overall viewer total since Feb. 26. The episode, featuring the first appearance by guest star Matthew Perry, tied for #1 for the hour among adults 25-54 and finished first outright among men 25-54, households and total viewers.

At 10 p.m. ET, "Law & Order" (6.4/17 among adults 18-49, 18.1 million viewers overall) won the time period convincingly in 18-49 and total viewers with its strongest numbers since February 26.

Updated nightlong averages among adults 18-49 are: Fox, 6.5/17; ABC, 5.0/13; NBC, 4.6/12; CBS, 2.5/7; WB, 1.9/5; UPN, 1.3/3. In overall total viewers, April 23 updated averages are: NBC, 13.5 million; Fox, 13.5 million; ABC, 11.0 million; CBS, 9.3 million; WB, 3.6 million; UPN, 3.0 million.
