The following news release comes from NBC:
TV GUIDE' READERS SELECT NBC SHOWS AND STARS AS THEIR FAVORITES IN OVERWHELMING NUMBERS FOR THIRD YEAR IN A ROW

NBC Outpaces All Networks With More Votes Than The Combined Totals Of The Other 'Big Four'; "Ed" Nabs 'New Series Of The Year,' 'Actor Of The Year In A New Series' And 'Breakout Star Of The Year'; Delta Burke Selected As Finalist In 'Actress Of The Year In A New Series' Category

"TV Guide" readers have sent a message back to the editors of the widely circulated entertainment magazine: "We love NBC's shows and stars."

In a just-released list of finalists for the Third Annual TV Guide Awards, NBC topped all other broadcasters including the combined tally of the "big four" broadcast networks. The voting, conducted online and by magazine ballot, represents the unsolicited viewing habits of television viewers across the country and is reminiscent of the two previous award years in which NBC has dominated the TV Guide Awards.

Leading NBC's finalists is "The West Wing" with six, including nods to Martin Sheen (a winner last year for Actor of the Year in a Drama Series), Rob Lowe, Allison Janney, John Spencer, Stockard Channing and Drama Series of the Year. In the new series category, the critically acclaimed comedy "Ed" was named as a finalist in the New Series of the Year category and "Ed" star Tom Cavanagh grabbed Actor of the Year in a New Series and Breakout Star of the Year nominations. Delta Burke was selected as a finalist in the Actress of the Year in a New Series category.

NBC's top-nominated comedy series was the venerable series "Frasier" (a winner in 1999 as Comedy of the Year) which landed five finalist spots including Kelsey Grammer, David Hyde Pierce (a winner last year as Actor of theYear in a Comedy Series), John Mahoney, Jane Leeves and Comedy Series of the Year. "Will & Grace" is also a leading contender with four nominations for the entire cast -- Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally.

The TV Guide Awards will be presented March 7 on FOX.
