path: Home / West Wing MerchandiseSeason 3 & 4: The Shooting Scripts
The scripts, which make up most of this book. are not the reason I am recommending it. The scripts in Season 1 & 2 are better. But in this one Aaron Sorkin does two introductory chapters; one each for the two seasons. They are funny and charming and revealing and a peak behind the scenes of the making of this show and what went wrong at the beginning of the Third Season and who the current writers are which were brought on board for the Fourth Season. I read the two introductory chapters first and what lead to me writing this page is the request from Sorkin to Lew Wells for what Wells translates as a rural "train with comic timing" for "20 Hours in America". Perfect dialogue although I can see why they couldn't work it into a script for the show! "The West Wing" may be as funny behind the scenes as the part we see on TV. Plus, the scripts have scenes that were cut out in the editing process and you can easily picture these as you read them. |
